Your Dumpster Rental Guide
When it comes to waste removal, no two messes are the same. When you’re in need of a dumpster rental for your home or commercial project, how do you know what size container you need? How do you find out what sizes are even available?
The last thing you want is to rent a dumpster and realize you wound up with the wrong size. Before you rent, make sure you ask yourself the following questions, which can help make sure you’re thinking about all the necessary specifics of YOUR project:
Dumpster Rental Questions
What kind of project are you working on?
Before you can start thinking about the size of the dumpster you need, it’s important to think about the kinds of materials you’ll be discarding. If you’re a construction contractor, you may need a larger dumpster to clean up concrete and other debris from a demolition site. If you’re looking on behalf of a business with regular trash removal needs, you may need a mid-sized dumpster that can be easily collected and emptied on a regular basis. As a homeowner conducting a full basement clean-out, a small 10-yard dumpster could provide the right amount of volume without taking up too much space outside of your home.
How will you be loading your dumpster?
Believe it or not, this small detail can make a big difference. Most dumpsters are between 3’5″ and 5′ tall with an open top, which make them great for ground loading. However, if you’ll be disposing of garbage off of a loading dock, you may want to go with the 40 yard dumpster, which is nearly 7′ high.
How much volume do you anticipate?
It can be difficult to visualize the amount of garbage and debris you will need to collect and have removed. We like to tell customers to visualize dumpster load capacity in terms relative to an average pick-up truck, which can give you a better idea of just how much each size dumpster can handle. See our helpful breakdown below:
10 Yard Dumpster: Holds 5x More Than an Average Pick-Up
15 Yard Dumpster: Holds 7.5x More Than an Average Pick-Up
20 Yard Dumpster: Holds 10x More Than an Average Pick-Up
30 Yard Dumpster: Holds 15x More Than an Average Pick-Up
40 Yard Dumpster: Holds 20x More Than an Average Pick-Up
